What We Track

Anonymous Session ID

We generate a unique session identifier stored in your browser's localStorage or as a cookie. This helps us track user sessions across page views without identifying individual users.

Page Views & Navigation

We track page views including:

  • Page URL and path
  • Referrer information (where the visitor came from)
  • UTM parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign) for marketing attribution

Widget Interactions

We track widget-specific events:

  • Widget views (when a widget is displayed)
  • Widget clicks (when users interact with widget buttons/links)
  • Purchase events (order ID, revenue, currency, optional product information)

Technical Information

We collect anonymized technical data:

  • IP address (hashed for privacy)
  • Country/region (derived from IP)
  • User agent (browser type, hashed)

How We Use It

Conversion Tracking

We track widget performance to help merchants understand which widgets drive conversions and revenue.

Experience Optimization

We analyze widget views and clicks to help merchants optimize their widget placement, messaging, and design.

Revenue Attribution

We attribute purchase events to specific widgets, helping merchants understand which widgets contribute to revenue.

Usage-Based Billing

We count widget views to calculate usage-based billing for our service tiers.

Where Data is Processed

Supabase (PostgreSQL)

All data is stored and processed in Supabase databases. The datacenter region depends on your Supabase project configuration. We recommend merchants check their Supabase project settings to confirm the data residency region.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your data with third parties. All data collected is used solely for providing the LiftSell service and analytics to the merchant account owner.

Self-Hosted / First-Party

LiftSell is a first-party script hosted on your own domain (via embed script). We do not use third-party tracking pixels (such as Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel) unless you explicitly integrate them separately on your site.

Cookies & Storage

Session ID Storage

We store a session identifier in your browser's localStorageor as a cookie. This identifier is used to track user sessions and is not personally identifiable.

No Third-Party Tracking

We do not set third-party cookies or use third-party tracking services. All tracking is done through our first-party embed script.

Opt-Out

Users can opt out by disabling JavaScript or using browser extensions that block scripts. However, this may affect widget functionality on the merchant's site.

Legal Basis & GDPR

Legitimate Interest

Under GDPR, our data collection falls under "legitimate interest" for:

  • Providing conversion tracking and analytics services to merchants
  • Attributing revenue to specific widgets
  • Preventing fraud and abuse

Merchant Responsibility

Merchants are responsible for:

  • Informing their users about data collection in their privacy policy
  • Referencing LiftSell as a measurement/analytics service
  • Complying with applicable privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) in their jurisdiction

Data Retention

We retain event data for the duration of your account's active subscription. Historical metrics are available based on your plan's metrics history limit (typically 30-90 days).
